Abstract
The authors reviewed 24 cases of the ankle fracture those were those were treated with the Gripper plate from february, 1989 to november, 1991. @ES The results obtained from this study were as follows.
1. The average age of the patients was 48 years.
2. Main causes of the injury were slip down accident(16 cases, 66%) and the others were fall down, traffic accident, and sports injury in orders.
3. The ideal indications of Gripper plate fixation were Danis-Weber type A, B, and Lauge-Hansen supination-external rotation fractures.
4. The Gripper plate was very useful for fixation of the lateral malleolar fractures just proximal or distal to the ankle joint level, especially in elderly patient with osteoporosis and the fracture that is inadequate to fix with the other
methods due
to its small size of the fragment and comminution.
